Excuses, excuses

I know, I know, I haven't posted. My excuse is that I'm prepping for my trip..but there's also the fact that I just began attending Bible Study Fellowship and I suddenly find myself with lots more to do than usual.
So instead of a real post, here's a cute ticker generated at the nest. Check out their great decorating inspiration, cheap date ideas, or find a tasty recipes for tonights dinner.

Behind the title

I got to thinking that it might be fun to explain how I came up with my blog name...the method to my madness.

It's not very complicated. It's not very deep. I feel that the name describes me! I so often feel like a girl still. I know I'm a woman, I feel like a woman -but sometimes, I feel like a girl playing house. Did you do that as a young girl? I did, a lot.

But there's a slightly (only slightly) deeper meaning to the title. Have you ever read Proverbs 31? it's inspiring. It describes in detail a virtuous woman, and a if you read it, it's hard to ignore the constant mention of how a virtuous woman takes care of her household.

One verse that captures, I think, the essence of this woman is verse 27:

"She looks well to how things go in her household, and the bread of idleness (gossip, discontent, and self-pity) she will not eat." Amplified Bible

I don't know about you, but I want to be that woman!

So this blog is first, one of my ways of motivating myself to continually grow in my skills/knowledge/experience, and second, my effort to document my growth.

I think part of me, regardless of age, will always be a girl playing house. But my hope is, while I do, I'll (by God's grace!) become that virtuous woman.
